The BAHL, which is one of the subsidiaries of the Bangalore International Airport Limited that operates the airport, has floated a Request for Proposal for conducting a feasibility study for the project.

An Ultra-Luxury Hotel at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) could be in the offing in the future as the Bangalore Airport Hotel Limited (BAHL) is exploring possibilities of implementing such a project.

The BAHL, which is one of the subsidiaries of the Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) that operates the airport, has floated a Request for Proposal (RFP) for conducting a feasibility study for the project.

“Conducting the feasibility study for a luxury/ultra-luxury hotel project at KIA, Bengaluru, for the BAHL,” the RFP stated.

If this hotel project comes up, it will be in addition to the Taj Bangalore and another project which is currently being developed on the airport premises.

While the Taj Bangalore, a five-star hotel, which is located 250 metres from the Terminal-1 with 370 rooms is already functioning, a 775-room Combo Hotel (Vivanta and Ginger), which is under construction, is expected to be operational later this year.

The project under construction comprises a combination of a 450-room Vivanta (four star) and a 325-room Ginger (three star) hotels, and this is part of the Bengaluru Airport City.

In total, the Taj Bangalore and the Combo Hotel would be a combined inventory of 1,145 rooms on the airport premises.

According to the Bangalore Airport City Limited (BACL), which is overseeing the 463-acre Bengaluru Airport City, a demand study had shown a potential to develop up to 5,200 keys (accommodation units) in total to cater to the needs within the airport city.

A senior official associated with the projects had earlier told The Hindu that there is a huge scope of the hospitality industry on the airport premises with multiple hotels offering various options for customers.

“As multiple projects like the Concert Arena and business parks would be coming up in the future we need to have multiple hospitality options like Delhi’s Aero City,” the official said.
